How much does it cost to fit a new carpet?

At Wall2Wall Carpets we’ve got a huge range of carpet styles to choose from, so finding the right one to suit your home couldn’t be easier. When it comes to installation costs it will depend on the size of the room, where you want to fit it and type of carpet you want to lay down.

We provide free home surveys and quotes to all our customers, so once we have measured the space and discussed your options, we’ll provide you with a fixed fitting quote. There are no hidden costs or fees added to your quote at a later stage and it will be fully itemised to include labour, materials, and VAT, so you always know where you stand.

What carpet fitting services do we provide?

We know that every fitting job is unique, which is why we provide a wide range of services that can be adapted to suit your home. Whether it’s removing your old flooring or installing a new carpet with underlay, our experienced team always provide a quality finish.

·         Fitting

Thanks to our vast flooring experience our fitters can install a host of different carpet types. We can also fit brand new underlay and accessories such as grippers, door bars and stair rods. Our team do everything to minimise disruption to your home and always clean up once they have finished.

·         Subfloor preparation

Our subfloor preparation service ensures the floor is prepared and ready for your new carpet so it can be easily installed and remain in place for years to come. We can lay plyboard, screed or late compounds or even a damp proof membrane to create the perfect foundation surface. This is something we can assess during the quotation stage so you have a clear idea of all the work that may be required.

·         Flooring removal

You’ll likely already have carpet or flooring in place that needs to be removed and the Wall2Wall team can remove it quickly and effectively. This is a service charged in addition to the installation of your new carpet, but you will receive a full quote for this before any work begins. It means you can rest assured your old flooring is being disposed of responsibly and is one less thing you need to worry about.

·         Carpet whipping

Carpet whipping is a finish applied to the edges of the material that will prevent it from fraying. It’s something we can do for any type of caret or rug and can be used for stair runners or entrance mats that are laid to protect flooring around the entrance and hallway. If you have any large cut-offs from your new carpet, we can make matching entrance mats that will help to protect your floor.

·         Door easing

If you are changing to a new flooring type or carpet thickness, the doors may need to be adjusted so they can open and close without restriction. This is a service we can offer for some doors, although unfortunately not all, and is something we can review during the measuring stage.

Is it worth investing in underlay?

The importance of underlay can be easily forgotten when buying new carpet, but it can make a huge difference to the finished feel and longevity of the material. In some cases, adding underlay can extend the lifespan by up to 50% and it should be thought of as an essential part of your flooring set-up, rather than an optional extra.

Not only can underlay make the floor feel more comfortable, but it also provides additional insulation that can reduce your energy bills, while enhancing in-room sound insulation.

What happens on fitting day?

We’ll keep in touch in the lead up to the installation day to confirm that we’re still on track to arrive on the agreed day and time to fit your carpet. Our fitters know you lead a busy life and that it can be hard to get away from work and other responsibilities, so we always arrive on time fully prepared to get to work right away.

Before we arrive at your property, we do ask that you move as much furniture from the installation space as possible. This will help us to start and finish quickly and enable you to get your home back to normal after we’ve gone. We can help to move some items, although not heavy, plumbed or wired items.
